Many of us around the world are united in our experience of social isolation
Many of us around the world are united in our experience of social distancing
But something unusual has happened
Many of us around the world are finding that social exclusion is leading to social inclusion
Get your pen and paper ready because we’re having a shared experience and it’s leading to unexpected consequences
Here’s some of what I share in the show:
Social Exclusion is leading to increased Social Participation
“Like many of you I’ve spent hours texting, speaking and video calling people, some of whom I don’t speak to that much! And I consider myself to be pretty social. We’re choosing to make with contact with more people on a more frequent basis”
Social Exclusion is leading to increased engagement by individuals
“many of the people who would be walking and looking at their phones are now paying attention to people around them, making eye contact with people around them and in some cases even saying hello to people around them. They’re more engaged”
Social Exclusion is changing your environment
“It’s remarkable because it’s not something that they noticed before but it suggests that on some level their environment is changing. At least in their mind”
